
Prime Minister and Minister of Education Harini Amarasuriya stated that the new education reforms are set to be implemented in 2026, with preparations for the initiative beginning in 2025.
Accordingly, speaking at a recent meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education in Parliament, the Prime Minister outlined the 5 main pillars for the reforms.
Accordingly, these include introducing a new syllabus, developing human resources, enhancing infrastructure, raising public awareness, and ensuring proper assessment and evaluation.
Amarasuriya confirmed that these changes will initially be introduced to students in the first and sixth grades in 2026.
