Suspects arrested in the case of killing 06 people due to illegal alcohol poisoning
Wenappuwa police had started investigation into the death of 06 illegal drunk people at Wenappuwa police domination on 2026.01.06.
Two suspects involved in the incident were arrested by the investigation officers and handed them to the Honorable Magistrate Court of Marawila on 2026.01.07, the two suspects were in reserve until 2026.01.19, here the main suspect has been arrested on 2026.01.07.
The suspect is 47-year-old resident of Galawatta, East Bandirippuwa area.
Post-death investigations of 5 deaths in connection with the incident have been conducted at Chilawatha Hospital and it has been revealed that the deaths were caused by alcohol poisoning. The post-death investigation of the other deceased is scheduled to be conducted at Chilawatha Hospital today 2026.01.08 08 more people who were diagnosed with alcohol are treated in Negombo and Peradeniya hospitals.
Further investigations are being conducted by Wenappuwa police.
