Chandika Hathurusingha has returned to Bangladesh after the tour of India, but his arrival hasn’t been a pleasant one. Just before the home series against South Africa, he has lost his job.
Hathurusingha, who rejoined the Bangladesh team in February last year for a second term due to his experience and understanding of Bangladeshi cricket, has been relieved of his duties by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) before his contract was set to expire. There were also complaints to the BCB regarding his breach of conduct during the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India.
Although his contract was supposed to last until the Champions Trophy next year, Hathurusingha will no longer serve as Bangladesh’s head coach. He will not be present with the team for the upcoming home series either.
Just a week before the two-Test series against South Africa, the BCB has decided to part ways with Hathurusingha and is already considering his replacement.
