Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Nuwara Eliya district.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province in the evening or night.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provincesand in Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Mainly fair weather will prevail in the other sea areas around the island.
Wind speed will be 35-45 kmph in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Mullaitivu via Puttalam and
Kankasanturai and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph at times and the sea condition will be very rough at times in these sea areas. Wind speed will 20 -35 kmph and can increase up to 50 kmph at times and the sea condition will be rough at times in the other sea areas.
Naval and fishing communities are also requested to be attentive in this regard.
