Major General U.L.J.S Perera RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 38th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) on 03 June 2024.
The incoming Commandant was welcomed in a Guard Turnout and a customary Guard of Honour at the Academy’s ‘A’ gate and parade ground. Subsequently, he paid homage to fallen War Heroes of the Sri Lanka Army, by laying a flower wreath at the War Memorial.
In his new office, the new Commandant afterwards symbolically signed an official document to mark the assumption of his duties after the religious observances. Soon after adding memories for the day, the Commandant was invited to pose for a few group photographs.
After a while, in line with military formalities he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he underscored the importance of dedicated service to the Military Academy in achieving its objectives and training directives, sharing insights and future perspectives with the officers. An All-Rank tea culminated the day’s agenda.
Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the event.
