President joins Thaipongal festival organized by Jaffna Tourism Board

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also participated in the Thaipongal Festival organized by Jaffna Tourism Board at Manipai Maruthadi Vinayahar Kovil today (15) afternoon.
Jaffna district has currently achieved a high tourist attraction as an exclusive destination in the tourism industry in Sri Lanka.
This Thaipongal festival was colourful with many Tamil cultures.
Mr. Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources mentioned here, mentioned that there was a saying ‘a new path opens with the dawn of Thai month.’ The minister who showed that the attempt taken by some politicians to prevent the country from travelling on a new path has failed, also mentioned that all Sinhalese, Tamil Muslim people should unite together to build the country.
A large group of public representatives and Security Ministry Secretary retired Air Wise Marshal Sampath Thuyakonta including Security Chiefs, Jaffna District Secretary and a large group of people from the area gathered at the event.
President participates in Thaipongal function organized by Jaffna Tourism Council
President Anura Kumara Disanayaka participated in the Taipongal function organized by Jaffna Tourism Council today (15) afternoon at Manipai Maruthadi Vinayagar Temple to improve the tourism department.
Jaffna district is currently attracting a large number of tourists as a unique destination in Sri Lanka tourism department. The Taipongal festival organized by the Tourism Council was colorful with various Tamil cultural events at this stage.

We faced different challenges in the months before Pongal. Huge damage to the country due to Titwa cyclone. Country people have expressed the news through Titwa cyclone that we are individually ready to unite and build the country.
They say that if Thai is born, way will be born. The attempts taken by some politicians to prevent the birth of the way for this country where mother was born have failed. All Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim people should unite to build the country. This Pongal event is taking place in Manipayi, when it is too late to make a change, said.
People’s representatives including members of parliament, security leaders including retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Duyakonda, government officials including Jaffna District Secretary and mass public attended the event.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake participated in the Thai Pongal festival organized by the Northern Province Tourism Bureau this afternoon (15) at the Manipai Maruthadi Vinayagar Kovil, as part of efforts to promote tourism.
The Jaffna district has emerged as a prominent destination in Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, attracting significant tourist interest.
The Thai Pongal festival, enriched with a wide array of Tamil cultural performances.
During the event, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Ramalingam Chandrasekar, highlighted the saying, “With the arrival of the Thai month, a new path opens,” noting that attempts by certain political actors to hinder the country’s progress have failed. He emphasized that the nation’s development requires unity among all communities Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim alike.
Certain politicians, senior officials from the Ministry of Defence including Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Air Vice Marshal Thuyacontha (Retire), the Jaffna District Secretary, state officials and members of the local community were also present at the event.
